Federal Government Offers More Funding for Local Arts Event, Including Hillside
Under ordinary circumstances, the entire city would be a buzz about the impending start of the Hillside Festival out at Guelph Lake. Hillside is a major summer music event, and a major local cultural event, but you can’t have either of those things in a global pandemic. But what you can have is a virtual Hillside, and you will have it again this year, except this time it comes with a little bit more Federal funding. Horwath Comes to Guelph in Campaign-Style Announcement
In a campaign-style announcement on Thursday morning, Official Opposition leader Andrea Horwath landed in Guelph with a couple of her NDP colleagues to talk about her party’s plan to promote the use of electric vehicles. The setting, next to some EV charging stations, was not subtle, and neither was the political message. Library Board Approves Design for New Main Library Building
In yet another step closer to making a new main library building downtown a reality, the Guelph Public Library Board of Directors formally approved the architectural design for the new standalone building in the Baker District Redevelopment last night. The board promises that this building will be everything you want in 21st century library goodness, and now they wait for next week’s approval of the rest of the urban design master plan for the area. Guelph/Eramosa Township Council Gives Final Approval on Quarry Annexation
The annexation of the Dolime Quarry property in the west end of the city south of Wellington Street took another step closer to joining the City of Guelph on Monday. The Guelph/Eramosa Township Council had one last vote to say that they’re ready to nip and tuck the quarry land, and now the the final move is in the hands of the City of Guelph. City Council Preview – What’s on the Agenda for the July 21 Meeting?
To complete a trifecta of city council meetings in the last week before a midsummer break, we will hear about one of the most complex and controversial construction projects coming to Guelph in the next 10 years.
