This month’s Heritage Guelph meeting gained some forward momentum on the heritage planning work plan in the City’s 1,700 designation eligible properties now paired down to an opening line-up of 10 for staff to start with. In other news, the committee sent the heritage designation for 65 Delhi Street to council while also looking at a designation for the Albion, which, during the meeting, was given an all-new nickname it’s apparently had all this time. RECAP: Social Services Gets A Look at the Future of 65 Delhi Street

January’s Social Service committee meeting at the County of Wellington covered a lot of ground, but the most ground was saved for a sneak peak at the redevelopment of 65 Delhi Street into Guelph’s latest transition and supportive housing project. MEETING PREVIEW: County Social Services Meeting for January 11, 2023

This month’s Social Services Committee meeting at Wellington County, the first for 2023, looks to be very informative indeed. There will be an update about a key housing project, some 2023 budget talk, an update about the changing costs of childcare, and a report about last month’s holiday winter storm. Guelph City Council tackled a very busy agenda before the summer break. The Committee of the Whole meeting was a marathon affair with topics about trees, the new sign bylaw, and speed limits. Then, at the planning meeting, a decision was reached about a new supportive housing project while there were a lot of questions about the latest Metalworks addition. Wellington County Wants to Buy 65 Delhi For Transitional Housing

At a December council meeting where it was recommended that the City of Guelph sell the property of 65 Delhi Street there was a request among councillors to find a buyer that would use the heritage building for a public good. Mission: accomplished! In a media release on Tuesday, the City said that none other than the County of Wellington wants to buy 65 Delphi, and then turn it into transitional housing.
