“The nitty gritty of it is, I’m a renter, I’m an employee, and it wasn’t too long ago that I was living in my parent’s basement earning very close to minimum wage.” If you’ve been to a local debate or campaign event, you’ve probably heard NDP candidate James Parr say some variation of that line, which not only sums up his own gestalt but also is a neat encapsulation of the issues facing many millions of young people. WELLINGTON-HALTON HILLS POLITICAST 2022 – Ryan Kahro, Green Party Candidate
It’s not easy being Green, the song says, and for the longest time running as the Green Party candidate in any election was seen as kind of a long shot. Mike Schreiner proved Greens can win in Ontario in 2018, and while a Green wave seems unlikely in this provincial election, Ryan Kahro thinks she can beat the odds, and more obviously, beat Ted Arnott! For now, COVID has knocked Schreiner off the campaign trail. Continue reading “COVID Knocks Schreiner Out of In-Person Campaigning”

GUELPH POLITICAST #324 – Remember Autism?
Back in the early days of the Ontario government under Doug Ford it looked like their autism policy might sink them. Their initial approach to funding and support for kids with autism had the effect of uniting the entire autism lobby against them, and then the pandemic happened, and all of healthcare – from emergency to long-term care – was thrown under the microscope. So where are we on the autism file? Continue reading “GUELPH POLITICAST #324 – Remember Autism?”
