Riding high after a strong showing at the leaders’ debate on Monday night, Guelph MPP and Green Party leader Mike Schreiner received a key endorsement on Wednesday from the Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation (OSSTF). The provincial OSSTF also endorsed Parry Sound-Muskoka Green candidate Matt Richter, who Schreiner has been boosting the last few days as the best chance to double his caucus at Queen’s Park. GUELPH POLITICAST #322 – Education is an Issue

Covering education issues has been weird the last couple of years during the pandemic; while keeping schools open for in-person learning was a priority, teachers felt that their concerns weren’t being heard. Now, education is struggling to be made an election priority, and education workers have been trying to put their concerns back on the frontburner since March 2020, so this seems like an interesting place to begin a provincial campaign. Ford Again Says Teachers in it For Money and Union Power; Teachers Disagree

Striking Teachers Defiant as Government Tries to Win Parents

For the first time since early December, teachers of the Upper Grand School Board and the Wellington Catholic District School Board took part in a one-day strike organized by the Ontario Secondary School Teacher’s Federation (OSSTF). But as teachers marched, the Minister of Education appealed to parents by announcing that if the strikes continue, the Government of Ontario will pick up the tab for childcare. Ontario’s Education Showdown Gets More Intense as One-Day Strike Hits Guelph

The Upper Grand District School Board and the Wellington Catholic District School Board are getting their time to strike this coming Wednesday in the latest round of job action from the Ontario Secondary School Teachers Federation (OSSTF). Teachers Say The One-Day Strike is For the Kids, Not For a Raise

Members of the Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation (OSSTF) across the province took part in a one-day strike to protest an impasse at negotiations with the Government of Ontario. Here in Guelph, over 200 teachers from Guelph Collegiate Vocational Institute (GCVI) walked up and down Paisley Street with a simple message: they’re striking for the kids, not for a pay raise. High School Teachers the Next to Threaten Job Action
