After white-knuckling through a long weekend where at least 14 Ontario hospitals experienced closures or capacity issues, all eyes have turned to the Provincial government as demands get louder for immediate action. Even after a series of media interviews by the new health minister, plus a rare mid-summer appearance of the premier at an event this morning, there’s still no sign that the government is getting in a crisis mode. The City of Guelph, and it’s various partners and agencies, put out a lot of information on a weekly basis, and while it all ends up on the City’s website somewhere, wouldn’t it be easier to just scroll through it all on one easy-to-read article on Guelph Politico here…? Most Mask Mandates End on Saturday, But Not at Guelph General Hospital
Mask mandates come to a predictable and unceremonious end this Saturday with only a couple of exceptions. Just a few days after the election, and announced with a simple media release on Wednesday, the Chief Medical Officer of Health says that outside long-term care and retirement homes, masks in Ontario will be optional as of June 11, but at least one Guelph institution says that the masks will stay on for now. WELLINGTON-HALTON HILLS POLITICAST 2022 – Diane Ballantyne, NDP Candidate
Wellington-Halton Hills is a big riding, extending from Puslinch to Centre Wellington and out east all the way to Erin and Halton Hills, so experience counts, and it’s hard to get more experience than Ted Arnott who’s represented the area since 1990. Can anyone challenge 32 years of longevity in what’s a fairly safe Conservative riding? Diane Ballantyne would like to volunteer.
