Dineen Talks to Open Sources About Running for the Communists on its 100th Anniversary
Earlier this year, the Communist Party of Canada celebrated its 100th anniversary as a political entity in Canada. The party organized in a barn on Metcalfe Street in 2021, which was, at the time, on the outskirts of Guelph, so in this centenary year it was pretty important that the Communists have a candidate in this Federal Election. New Candidate for Guelph, Another Jahangir on the Ballot

Michael Chong won Wellington Halton-Hills in the 2019 election with 47.4 per cent of the vote. The only way he could have been defeated was if the combined Liberal, NDP, and Green Party vote had gotten behind one candidate. Local Groups Demand More Climate Action, Less Climate Talk
A lot of people hope that substantive action on climate change will be a major issue in the current Federal Election, but they also know that it will take a lot of hard work and noise to make it the prevalent issue they want it to be. Although not as big as past climate strikes in Guelph, the one held on Thursday drew more than 50 people to St. George’s Square to raise their voices about the desperate need to fight climate change. People’s Party Candidate Becomes Sixth Person to Join Guelph Race
No, Maxime Bernier is not running in Guelph, but a young Guelphite named Joshua Leier is. The People’s Party of Canada website was updated Wednesday night with Leier’s name as the Guelph candidate for the party in this Federal Election, which brings the number of candidates in the race up to six. Local Green Candidate Joins National Party Shadow Cabinet
Much of the talk on the Federal politics beat lately has been about the likelihood of an election either later this summer or sometime in the fall. Schreiner Joins Paul as She Kicks Off a Don’t-Call-It-a-Pre-Election-Tour Tour
For the first time in 15 months, a political rally was held live and in-person in Guelph. The host was Guelph MPP and Green Party of Ontario leader Mike Schreiner, and the guest was his Federal counterpart, Annamie Paul. The pair were kicking off a summer tour, and announcing their intention to work closely on a myriad of issues, but for Paul, she did not want to call this a pre-election tour.
