Lloyd Longfield, Ashish Sachan and Mark Paralovos weren’t there, and depending on how they feel about free wheeling political debates with lots of audience interaction, maybe they’re glad they weren’t at the Royal City Mission Thursday night. The last debate of the 2019 election in Guelph was a wild affair that made all the other debates feel like “going to bed with a mannequin” by comparison. (Real quote.) Over 4,000 people take their own life every year. That’s an average of 10 per day, and 90 per cent of those people are living with a mental health issue of illness. For one suicide death, there are five people hospitalized with a self-inflicted injury, another 25 to 30 attempts, and 7 to 10 people who are left behind affected by suicide loss.
