In Guelph’s riding this election, there are a lot of experienced politicians running. Earlier this year, the Communist Party of Canada celebrated its 100th anniversary as a political entity in Canada. The party organized in a barn on Metcalfe Street in 2021, which was, at the time, on the outskirts of Guelph, so in this centenary year it was pretty important that the Communists have a candidate in this Federal Election. It’s impossible to look at the events last week in Washington D.C. outside the lens of White Supremacy. Even President-Elect Joe Biden affirmed in a press conference that if the insurrectionists that broke into the Capitol, vandalized, and threatened the lives of elected representatives had been Black, there would have been a lot more arrests, and a lot more than five deaths.
