Striking Teachers Defiant as Government Tries to Win Parents

For the first time since early December, teachers of the Upper Grand School Board and the Wellington Catholic District School Board took part in a one-day strike organized by the Ontario Secondary School Teacher’s Federation (OSSTF). But as teachers marched, the Minister of Education appealed to parents by announcing that if the strikes continue, the Government of Ontario will pick up the tab for childcare. Guelph Activists Shutdown Intersection to Support Wet’suwet’en Chiefs

A leisurely drive downtown on Sunday afternoon might have caused some frustration if you wanted to pass through the corner of Wyndham and Macdonell during the noon hour. A group of about 40 activists were demonstrating in solidarity with the Wet’suwet’en hereditary chiefs, who, on their ancestral territory in British Columbia right now, are running out of time to stop the development of a natural gas pipeline.
