Schreiner Talks About Teachers and Transit on Open Sources

It’s a new year, but Guelph Member of Provincial Parliament Mike Schreiner is dealing with some of the same old issues. This past Thursday on Open Sources Guelph, Schreiner talked about the rotating teachers’ strikes, hyper-partisanship, transit needs, and more Queen’s Park cronyism, which shows it’s been a busy year after just one month, and the legislature hasn’t even sat for a session in 2020. Metrolinx Won’t Be Offering Anymore Discounts on Transfers Come April

If you’ve been enjoying the cost benefits of using your Presto card to transfer from the GO Train to the TTC, you’re going to have to make up that extra cost per trip starting April 1. Metrolinx has announced that the Discounted Double Fare program will be ending on March 31, when the multi-year agreement between the Province of Ontario and GO Transit’s parent company expires. GUELPH POLITICAST #206 – Penner’s Place on Politico

For 12 years and 900 episodes, Fred Penner entertained kids every weekday morning on CBC by inviting them to his Place, which was through the woods, along the river shore and accessed via a downed log hidden by some shrubs. It offered generations of kids access to a world of song, story and make-believe, and it’s a world that Penner’s still taking kids to one tour stop at a time. Catholic Teachers Join the Picket Lines in One-Day Strike

Another week, another day of strike action by Ontario teachers, but this time the union walking the picket lines was different. Here in Guelph, and around Ontario, the teachers of the Ontario English Catholic Teachers Association (OECTA) took part in a one-day, province-wide strike to register their concern about the future of students as the impasse in negotiations with the Province continues. Ontario’s Southwestern Transportation Plan Leaves Guelph Projects Uncertain

The Government of Ontario unveiled its first draft of a Regional Transportation Plan for Southwestern Ontario on Friday in London. The plan is meant to “build a better transportation system that will connect individuals, families and businesses in southwestern Ontario,” but when the plan might come to fruition is a question without too many answers.
