This Month at Council: Clair-Maltby, Townhouses, and an Emergency Demo

After a month off, Guelph’s city council got to work again around the virtual horseshoe and handled a lot of business, but September wasn’t as busy as some months this year. There wasn’t a lot of controversy either, but there was a lot of regular order type business taken care of including changes to payday loan businesses, a third-party trails agreement, some planning meetings, and a draft plan for Clair-Maltby. City Council Preview – What’s on the Agenda for the September 27 Meeting?

September’s city council meeting schedule wraps up with what might be a brief virtual gathering, at least for the open session. Council will revisit the agenda from the Committee of the Whole meeting (if anybody is interested in revisiting any of those items), and they will also name the five members of a committee handling some very important, and delicate, council business. Vast Majority of Guelph Voters Think Climate’s the Big Issue This Election

There are a lot of issues taking up the national discussion this election including the COVID-19 pandemic, housing affordability, and the ongoing struggle for Truth and Reconciliation with Indigenous communities. Guelphites probably have some concerns about those issues too, but apparently, the vast majority of us are the most concerned about one thing above all others: climate change. RECAP: Ward 2 Town Hall Covers PACE, and Previews Future Struggles

On Saturday, Ward 2 City Councillors Rodrigo Goller and James Gordon held one of their bimonthly town halls at the Evergreen Seniors Centre.
