GUELPH POLITICAST #368 – The Realtor’s View of the Housing Crisis
When we’re talking about the housing crisis we frequently talk to activists or government representatives. This is understandable, but there are a lot of pieces to the housing puzzle and we don’t lean on all of them equally, and in so much as we want to vilify the people who take part in the open housing market that so many of us are priced out of, we still need them if we’re going to have a hope in developing solutions to the crisis. Guthrie Drops Gimmicks for Serious Talk at State of the City
Over 850 people made their way to the Delta Hotel on Stone Road for the annual winter ritual of hearing the mayor talk. At the start of Living Wage Week 2022, the Ontario Living Wage Network has announced, perhaps unsurprisingly, that the living wage in Ontario has gone up once again. In Guelph and Wellington, that number is now $19.95, one of the largest in the province. Continue reading “A Living Wage in Guelph is Now Nearly $20 Per Hour”

GUELPH POLITICAST #321 – The Eviction Notice is Just the Beginning of Your Troubles
If there’s one thing we can agree on, it’s that people shouldn’t be forced out of their home after a minor dispute with their landlord. Yes, that happens, and it happens often, but it’s been happening a lot more since the Landlord and Tenant Board went virtual, and that made access to the internet another barrier to housing. This seems like something worth talking about. Continue reading “GUELPH POLITICAST #321 – The Eviction Notice is Just the Beginning of Your Troubles”
