In Guelph’s riding this election, there are a lot of experienced politicians running. In fact, Green Party of Canada candidate Dr. Michelle Bowman is one of only two candidates running in Guelph who have never been a candidate before, but the environmental scientist doesn’t see that as a bad thing. Jahangir Tells Open Sources She Senses Opportunity for the NDP

Guelph NDP candidate Aisha Jahangir has a day job as a mental health nurse at the Hamilton-Wentworth detention facility. It’s unique perch to see first hand the effects of COVID-19 and the effectiveness of pandemic preventative measures, and Jahangir would like to take  that experience to Parliament Hill. People’s Party Candidates Rally for Support and Get Attention from Bylaw

It was cloudy day, rain was a constant threat and the humidity made things muggy. Vast Majority of Guelph Voters Think Climate’s the Big Issue This Election

There are a lot of issues taking up the national discussion this election including the COVID-19 pandemic, housing affordability, and the ongoing struggle for Truth and Reconciliation with Indigenous communities. Guelph’s Federal election candidates from the four main parties met (virtually) for the first time in this campaign Thursday afternoon in the perennial Chamber of Commerce debate. Chamber CEO Shakiba Shayani took candidates through nearly every issue in the platform book in a two-hour plus event broadcast over Zoom that generated a lot of back-and-forth between the candidates, some of it contentious. While the Federal leaders got ready to meet in Gatineau for the official French-language debate, the candidates in Wellington-Halton Hills were among the numerous ridings in Canada taking part in this election’s 100 Debates on the Environment and More initiative. Hosted by the Halton Environmental Network (HEN), CFUW Georgetown and the Halton Hills Public Library, the four main party candidates in the riding traded policy (and barbs) over Zoom. GUELPH POLITICAST #288 – Human Trafficking: The Real Story

It was just a few weeks ago that the Joint Waterloo-Guelph Human Trafficking team, which is staffed by members of both police services, arrested a Guelph man for both both trafficking the victim, and assaulting them himself. The City of Guelph Has Demands for the Election Too!

In case you didn’t hear, there’s an election on. The 2021 Federal Election is well underway, and everyone has issues that are especially important to them, even the political leaders and staff at the City of Guelph. Before the weekend, the City sent out a press release listing their five priorities for this election, issues that they would like to see addressed by the candidates and their parties.
