U of G Lifting COVID-19 Mandates on May 1

As of yesterday, Monday, masks are an option in most public indoor settings in Ontario. Unless you’re in a healthcare setting, long-term care home, or transit vehicle, you have the option of no longer having a face covering. In Guelph though, there is still one place where you have to wear a mask indoors, and before even getting insider, you still have to prove your vaccination status. Soon, even that will change. Biggest Anti-Lockdown Rally Yet Storms Old Quebec Street

The Guelph edition of this weekend’s nation-wide protest against anti-lockdown measures and vaccine mandates was the largest such gathering in Guelph yet, and the emboldened crowd made it a road show. After hearing speeches in front of City Hall, a few hundred people marched up Wyndham Street, and entered Old Quebec Street maskless as an act of organized defiance. Protestors Say They’re Fed Up With “Scariants” and the “One More Con” Virus

The wind didn’t howl so much as whistle though downtown Saturday afternoon, but it wasn’t the only thing making noise. Three weeks after a large protest among the pandemic skeptical in front of City Hall, about 60 people met again at 1 Carden Street to express their ongoing disgruntlement about the current state of things. Ontario Government Increases Access to Boosters, But That’s Not the Vaccine News Today

On Wednesday, the Government of Ontario announced that they are expanding the eligibility of third doses of a COVID-19 vaccine. Starting on November 6, booster shots will be made available to additional groups of high-risk individuals, and that boosters will then be gradually rolled out for all age groups 12 and over. Guelph General Wants to See Proof of Vaccination for Visitors

It should be a force of habit by now, but Guelph General Hospital is joining the list of places where you will have to show proof vaccination if you want to pop by. Starting on November 9, the Hospital will be initiating a proof of vaccination requirement for many of the people visiting the hospital in what their management is calling an additional step to ensure the health and safety of staff and patients. Hospitals Add Vaccine Mandate, Public Health Suggests Businesses Do Same

If you work at City Hall, any City facility, the Guelph Public Library, and the University of Guelph, then you will be required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, so it would make sense for workers at area hospitals to be fully vaccinated. A joint statement today from Guelph General Hospital another other institutions confirms a coming vaccine mandate, while Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health is asking all businesses to plan along similar lines. City of Guelph Sets Vaccine Requirements for Staff and Council

As the Province government struggles with wrapping its head around vaccine certificates for the whole of Ontario, anyone that wants to get into City Hall will now definitely have to show their proof of vaccination. On Friday morning, the City of Guelph formally announced that everyone at the Corporation of the City of Guelph will need to be fully vaccinated with limited exceptions. U of G Announces Vaccine Mandate for Everyone on Campus this Fall

Less than a month till move in day, and the start of the new school year, the University of Guelph announced to its community that whether you’re a student, faculty member or staff – both here in Guelph and at the Ridgetown campus – then you’re going to have be vaccinated if you’re coming to campus in September. The U of G joins several other universities in initiating a vaccine mandate, much of it at the instance of its own people.
