Along the banks of Guelph’s Speed River near the Boathouse on Tuesday morning, Guelph MPP and Green Party leader Mike Schreiner announced his party’s intention to build 60,000 permanent supportive housing units in Ontario with wrap-around support. Schreiner said that the housing and mental health crises are inexorably linked and he challenged Premier Doug Ford to steal his idea for Thursday’s budget. For Some Reason, Roger Stone is Now Advising the Ontario Party
Yes, that Roger Stone. The Ontario Party today announced that they’ve hired the man who advised both Richard Nixon and Donald Trump as their “Senior Strategic Advisor.” Stone, who’s colourful history includes many brushes with the law, said he was inspired to join the Ontario Party by the recent Freedom Convoy and the fact that the Progressive Conservative Party under Doug Ford does not represent true conservative values. Healthcare Improvements Are the Priority in NDP Platform
We’re 37 days away from the Provincial Election that’s not yet been officially called, but there doesn’t mean that campaigning is not hitting a fevered pitch. Government of Ontario Extends Last Mask Mandates to June
While there was no word on bringing back mask mandates this Friday, there was an announcement concerning the ones that remain. All remaining masking requirements in Ontario were scheduled to be lifted on April 27, but in the wake of the increased number of cases without a more general mask mandate, and the spread of the BA.2 variant, the Provincial government is now waiting till June 11 to get rid of those other mandates. GUELPH POLITICAST #320 – The Queen of Craft
Historically, women played a pretty big role in the brewing of beer. Starting in ancient times, brewing was fairly female-dominated, but that changed in western culture around the same time the brewing process became industrialized 150 years ago. In 2022, women are trying to reclaim their place atop the brewing world thanks to the proliferation of craft breweries, and one local woman is helping to lead the way.
