According to an article on the CBC website last month more than one in three Canadian homes now has a dog, and two out of every five homes now has a cat, and then there are all the birds, hamsters, guinea pigs, lizards and goldfish who are just as beloved by their humans. U of G Increases COVID Monitoring and Enforcement After Outbreak

The second wave of COVID-19 continues to wash over the province although there are some signs that we’ve hit the high water mark and the deluge has started to recede. The story looks a bit different on the University of Guelph campus though where Frost Week celebrations on the January 15 weekend ended up becoming a super-spreader event. Upper Grand School Board to Demand More Clarity About Province’s School Re-Opening Plan

There are too many unanswered questions, no idea about how to increase safety precautions, and decisions about re-opening schools are happening in such a way that parents, teachers and school administrators can’t do any long-term planning. The Upper Grand District School Board heard again on Tuesday night that Ontario needs more action and less reaction, and they’re going to take that fight to the Government of Ontario. Hasenfratz Avoids Losing Chancellorship at Western Despite Objections

One week after losing her spot on the Government of Ontario’s COVID-19 Vaccine Distribution Task Force due to some ill-advised travel over the holidays, Linamar CEO Linda Hasenfratz has been able to preserve at least one of the other positions. COVID Outbreak at U of G Gets 7 Cases, Maybe More

On Thursday night, the University of Guelph posted news to its website that no one likely took any joy in sharing. After “unsanctioned social gatherings” (plural) in the East Village Townhouse residences, the U of G has announced at last seven new cases of COVID-19, and the declaration of an outbreak by Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health. No In-Person Classes for Guelph Schools Till February 1

One month ago this past Monday marked the last time that most students in Guelph stepped foot inside their schools and classrooms, at least the ones that were physically going to school in the first place. On Wednesday, it was announced that January will end without kids going back to school as Public Health has extended the order for mandatory virtual learning for another week as the case count slowly declines.
