Ontario Government Changes Rules for Cannabis Retailers

After a year of struggle in trying to create a retail cannabis marketplace in Ontario, the Provincial government is changing the rules to make it easier to get stores off the ground. Come 2020, there will be no more quotas, and no more lotteries, as Ontario tries to play catch-up with other parts of Canada in making it easier to get legal pot. Guelph Getting Its First Pot Shop as 42 New Locations Selected by AGCO

The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) has announced the “winners” in their “lottery draw” of 42 new bricks-and-mortar cannabis retailers for Ontario. The good news is that there’s a store coming to Kitchener, but the better news is that there’s one coming to downtown Guelph. Guelph Location for Cannabis Store Announced on Stone(r) Rd

Guelph wasn’t the first on the list to get a legal cannabis store, but we are one of the first to get a location for ours. The LCBO, and its legal post subsidiary the Ontario Cannabis Store (OCS), announced Wednesday where four of the government pot shops will open this summer. Appropriately enough, the Royal City’s OCS will open nestled near a number of snack-friendly locations in the plaza across from, appropriately enough, Stone Road Mall.
