The Government of Ontario is making some changes in regards to vaccinations, and not just about who can get a vaccine, but who must now get a vaccine. Although still apparently shirking vaccine mandates for the whole province, the government now wants employees in high risk settings to be vaccinated, but it seems that Ontario’s schools do not count as “high-risk” where rapid testing and contact tracing will remain the first line of defense. Back in June, after 30 years and months of debate, Guelph City Council approved an adjusted six-ward map that will go into effect for the 2022 Municipal Election. But now there’s a wrinkle in the form of an appeal, one Guelph resident has applied to the Ontario Land Tribunal (OLT) to contest the new ward boundary map, which might delay it’s implementation before next year’s local election. Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health hit a major milestone in vaccine distribution on Thursday reaching 75 per cent of all eligible residents with two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine. Just a few weeks ahead of back to school, and perhaps just a matter of time before a full-blown fourth wave of the pandemic, three-quarters of people 12 and over in Guelph and area are now full vaccinated.
