Michael Keefer Warns to Stay Vigilante for Voter Suppression

One week from now, we will know with absolute certainty who the next government will be, whether or not it will last is another question all together. Still, the real question is whether or not the events of 2011 will repeat themselves, specifically, whether or not someone will try to disrupt the democratic process like one Pierre Poutine, who remains at large. Heckling Pushes Candidates to Be on Point at U of G Debate

Just two days after a showdown at Cutten Fields that was telecast on Rogers, the candidates gathered again to debate, this time at Peter Clark Hall in the basement of the University of Guelph’s University Centre, and for the first time with all seven Guelph candidates on the same stage. What followed was a sometimes funny, sometimes informative, and sometimes hostile debate as all the candidates struggled to sell their platforms to a cynical and engaged lunchtime university crowd. May Pledges Support for Students at U of G

Green Party leader Elizabeth May once again graced Guelph with her presence Wednesday in order to announce a major policy initiative to address the needs of Canada’s students. On the porch of Raithby House, in front of a growing, curious crowd of students, May promised to eliminate tuition and reign in student debt in a bid to motivate typically apathetic young people across the country a reason to paint their ridings green. Elections Canada Hosting Pilot Project on 40 Campuses; U of G Will Be One

It’s a problem just about every election cycle, getting young people to the polls and casting their vote. Students especially are part of this struggle because if the election in question takes place while they’re away from their home riding, they’ll have to either vote in their school’s riding, or vote via absentee ballot back home. As fate would have it, Elections Canada is making it easier this year by hosting several days of advanced polls where students can cast ballots that will count in their home ridings. Police and University Encourage Safe Revelry on St. Patrick’s Day

It’s that time of the year where you drink all the green beer you can until you’re green in the face, and in university towns it can represent a particular headache of the non-alcoholic variety for police and residents. OPIRG Guelph Organizing Local Protest Againt Bill C-51

Guelph doesn’t get out and protest in quite the same way it used to, but maybe the city’s activist community were all waiting for the right cause to march against. The Guelph chapter of the Ontario Public Interest Research Group is rallying the local opposition to Bill C-51 to do the Royal City’s part in the National Day of Action against the proposed anti-terror legislation.
