Ontario Government Increases Access to Boosters, But That’s Not the Vaccine News Today

On Wednesday, the Government of Ontario announced that they are expanding the eligibility of third doses of a COVID-19 vaccine. Starting on November 6, booster shots will be made available to additional groups of high-risk individuals, and that boosters will then be gradually rolled out for all age groups 12 and over. Ontario Government Announces No More Capacity Limits on November 15

After a couple of weeks of pressure from restaurateurs and other business owners about the Government of Ontario’s seemingly random removal of capacity limits on cinemas and sports venues, it looks like all limits are coming to an end by the mid-point of next month. In a typical late Friday announcement, Premier Doug Ford said that more limits will be lifted on Monday with an eye to end all COVID-19 precautions by the end of March. Government of Ontario Expanding Flu Shot Availability in November

In case you had forgotten, flu season is here. Let’s just say that if you’re only planning on getting one shot this fall, and you aren’t already fully vaccinated against COVID-19, make it a Pfizer or Moderna shot. However, if you are worried about catching the good, old fashioned flu, then you should probably get a flu shot, which is a chore that’s going to get easier in the next couple of weeks. Capacity Limits Lift Slightly, as Public Health Will Participate in Testing

Just in time for the Thanksgiving long weekend, there are now no capacity limits at movie theatres or concert venues! Moore Says Thanksgiving, Halloween Can Proceed Like Semi-Normal

This time last year, the province had started to climb the slope of what ended up being the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. Ontario Gov Announces Vaccine Mandates for Some, Rapid Tests for Others

The Government of Ontario is making some changes in regards to vaccinations, and not just about who can get a vaccine, but who must now get a vaccine. Although still apparently shirking vaccine mandates for the whole province, the government now wants employees in high risk settings to be vaccinated, but it seems that Ontario’s schools do not count as “high-risk” where rapid testing and contact tracing will remain the first line of defense. Schreiner Joins Chorus Demanding Vaccine Passports for Ontario

The increasing COVID-19 case counts, the threat of the Delta variant, and the difficulty getting the last 25-30 per cent of the province fully vaccinated is prompting people to push the Government of Ontario to implement a certification program for people who have received their vaccines, aka: a so-called “vaccine passport.” One of the latest people adding their support to that idea is none other than Guelph MPP Mike Schreiner. Ontario Moving on to Stage 3 Next Friday

Good news has been sometimes hard to come by in the last 15 months, but there was definitely some good news on Friday as the Government of Ontario announced that stage 3 is beginning early. Although the original intent was to move to the third and final phase of the economic re-opening on July 21, positive developments on both lower case counts and high vaccination rates means an early jump on stage 3.
