This year is the 30th season of the Guelph Storm, the local OHL hockey franchise who won the J. Ross Robertson Cup in 2019, and are technically still the undefeated champions of the Ontario Hockey League. This Month at Council: Clair-Maltby, Townhouses, and an Emergency Demo
After a month off, Guelph’s city council got to work again around the virtual horseshoe and handled a lot of business, but September wasn’t as busy as some months this year. There wasn’t a lot of controversy either, but there was a lot of regular order type business taken care of including changes to payday loan businesses, a third-party trails agreement, some planning meetings, and a draft plan for Clair-Maltby. Here’s September at city council. Continue reading “This Month at Council: Clair-Maltby, Townhouses, and an Emergency Demo”

Public Health Amends Proof of Vaccination Order, Not a Human Rights Matter
It’s been a couple of days since the start of Ontario’s vaccine certification program, and it seems to be going well. Still, it seems that the original version of the mandate wasn’t tight enough for our own local public health unit, and an announcement Thursday introduced some additional coverage. At the same time, the Ontario Human Rights Commission has said their mostly good with vaccine mandates, so there’s that too. People’s Party Candidates Rally for Support and Get Attention from Bylaw
It was cloudy day, rain was a constant threat and the humidity made things muggy. Grey clouds and the consistent annoyance of bugs though were no match for the enthusiasm of the dozens of people who gathered to hear from the two area People’s Party of Canada candidates, Josh Leier for Guelph and Syl Carle for Wellington-Halton Hills. For these people, as the sign literally said, “the other options suck.” Continue reading “People’s Party Candidates Rally for Support and Get Attention from Bylaw”
