September’s city council meeting schedule wraps up with what might be a brief virtual gathering, at least for the open session. Council will revisit the agenda from the Committee of the Whole meeting (if anybody is interested in revisiting any of those items), and they will also name the five members of a committee handling some very important, and delicate, council business.
NOTE #1: Delegates will be able to appear at this meeting via telephone or video, but you do have to register with the clerks office before 10 am on September 24. You can also submit written delegations and correspondences for agenda items.
NOTE #2: The meeting will be closed to the public, though it will be live-streamed on the City of Guelph’s website here.
CLOSED MEETING:
September 2021 Public Appointments: City Council Remuneration and Support Advisory Committee – Like all board and committee appointments, this line-up has to be approved by council in-camera before it gets approved in open session.
Non-union Municipal Employee Group Compensation Review – Because this is about negotiating with staff, it’s a matter that has to be discussed in closed session.
797 Victoria Road North – Whatever this item pertains to, it’s a matter “relating to security of the property of the municipality or local board; and advice that is subject to solicitor-client privilege, including communications necessary for that purpose.”
September 2021 Public Appointments: City Council Remuneration and Support Advisory Committee – As you may recall, council empanels this committee to decide on the salary and compensation for the mayor and city councillors of the next term. Along with that, the committee will be asked to consider the question about whether councillors should be part-time or full-time (although council was clear earlier this summer that they didn’t think full-time was the answer).
Consent Agenda items from the Committee of the Whole meeting on September 7. (Items can be pulled by a councillor seeking additional information, otherwise all items will be voted on as a slate without further debate.)
