This Week at Council: Downtown Renewal, Recycling Revamp

After a pretty light January, the first week of February brought a couple of packed agendas to the council’s agenda management software on their iPads. First, Committee of the Whole contained an unexpected report about the Housing Accelerator Funds, plus some grand plans about downtown. Also, there was a field trip to the east end of town for a special council workshop about the proverbial Cadillac of City services: waste management. MEETING PREVIEW: Transit Advisory Committee Meeting for February 15, 2024

No time for love the day after Valentine’s Day because the Transit Advisory Committee has to get down to business. The agenda is deceptively light, because one of the items will require TAC to take a good, long look at itself. The clerks’ office is coming to this meeting to look at how TAC might fit into the grand scheme of things so far as the future of advisory committees go, and there’s also matters of rider feedback and general updates to discuss. City Council Preview – What’s on the Agenda for the Meeting on February 21?

Originally, the content of this meeting was supposed to be tackled in September, which would have made it ideally timed about a little more than a week before the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
