On January 28, 1980, CFRU 93.3 fm went on the air. What started in the fall of 1964 with a small group of Ontario Agricultural College (OAC) students creating a radio society, turned into Radio Gryphon by the 1970s, and then evolved again into a complete community radio station 40 years ago. Although CFRU and other campus radio stations are facing tremendous challenges, it’s still being hailed as a cause for celebration. On Saturday, Ward 2 City Councillors Rodrigo Goller and James Gordon held one of their bimonthly town halls at the Evergreen Seniors Centre. Much of the meeting covered the work being done by Our Energy Guelph, including the PACE program, but there were hints about what might be coming at Monday’s planning meeting, and at the end of the month concerning dog parks.
