A damning 15-page report from Canadian Forces personnel assisting in long term care homes in Ontario paints a picture of the disgusting, and degrading conditions that some senior citizens live in at five Ontario properties. The report released to the public on Tuesday has increased the verocity and volume in demands for a full public inquiry, and the rolling of some political heads on the part of Premier Doug Ford. Women in Crisis Gets Federal Funds to Adapt to COVID-19

Guelph-Wellington Women in Crisis is one of hundreds of shelters and sexual assault centres to get financial assistance from the Federal government’s COVID-19 Economic Response Plan. The money is meant to give these essential services a boost, and to get the resources they need to keep working through the pandemic, and according to the executive director of Women in Crisis, the money will be put to immediate use. City of Guelph Announces Relaxed Restrictions on Parks

Unless people are just passing through, Guelph’s parks have been empty for the better part of the last two months, but some of those restrictions are now being lifted, and just in time for a nice stretch of spring weather. Ontario Schools Now Officially Out for Summer, While Commission Coming for LTC

The last time that Ontario students stepped foot inside their classrooms was the day before March Break, and Tuesday it was revealed that they won’t be going back until after Labour Day. The fate of the school year is one of a couple of new announcements from Queen’s Park today, along with updates to the emergency orders, and the announcement that the Provincial government will be looking into what happened in long term care homes. Public Drop-Off, Library Services, and GRCA Parks Are – Slightly – Reopening

If you have a lot of garbage lying around, and no way to get rid of it, then you will be happy to hear that the public drop-off will soon be open again in a limited capacity in the very near future. Outbreak’s Over in Long-Term Care Homes, Says Health Team

Since the start of the COVID-19 global pandemic, the primary concern has been for older people in congregate settings like long-term care and retirement homes. On that account, there’s a piece of good news this Friday as the Guelph & Area Ontario Health Team announced that there are no more COVID-19 outbreaks in such facilities in Wellington, Dufferin and Guelph (for now).
