Police and U of G Get Ready for Homecoming Weekend

On Saturday, the Guelph Gryphons football team will face-off against the Queen’s Gaels at Alumni Stadium, but the real action might not be on the football field, but out in the city itself. With Homecoming comes parties, and that means there’s a danger of parties getting out of control, which is something neither the Guelph Police Service or the University of Guelph admin want to happen on what’s sure to be a very busy weekend. U of G Students Move In This Weekend, and Safe Semester Begins!

You know fall is close when the students return to the University of Guelph. This weekend, it might be best for you to avoid this particular stretch of Gordon Street because over 5,000 students will be moving in to their dorms, and the U of G admin has some notes for them and the greater Guelph community. University of Guelph Pauses Mask Mandates as of July 1

The number of mandatory masking spaces in Guelph continues to grow smaller, and it will draw considerably smaller again on Canada Day when the University of Guelph ends all its masking mandates. Once delayed by the U of G administration, the masks will be able to finally come off while people are indoors on campus, but it comes with a caveat that masks might need to go back on sometime in the future. The Grove Official Opens U of G Hub Just in Time to Address Growing Need

Emblematic of the feeling that we’ve reached the end of the pandemic, it was a packed house outside the new location of The Grove Wellington Guelph Hub at the University of Guelph to celebrate its grand opening. Volleyball Referee Busted for Inappropriate Behaviour After U of G Tournament

It’s become a terrible and oddly familiar story in the world of junior sport: A man in authority taking advantage of underage women. It happened again earlier this month at the University of Guelph at a volleyball tournament, and after receiving reports from volunteers in attendance, Guelph Police have arrested a man who was one of the referees at the tournament and he’s facing now over a dozen charges. Latest Hospital Outbreak Over, U of G Keeping Masks

The pandemic continues to affect life here in Guelph and around Ontario (not to mention Canada and the rest of the planet), but it is affecting us a little less today. The latest outbreak at Guelph General Hospital has been officially called off, but across town at the campus of the University of Guelph, the continued spread of COVID-19 has forced the school’s administration to halt a planned end to certain mandates.
