On the last day of the COP26 climate conference in Glasgow, international delegates tried to reach a deal to further the cause of stopping a two degree increase to the global temperature that will lead to a climate catastrophe. In a lavish Rideau Hall ceremony on Tuesday, more than one month after the completion of the election, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau finally unveiled the cabinet that will (hopefully) lead Canada to the end of the pandemic and a brighter future beyond. The 38-person cabinet maintains Trudeau’s commitment to gender parity in cabinet, and aims to shake up some important portfolios with some newer faces. Just a few weeks ago, Guelph Member of Parliament Lloyd Longfield was re-elected to his position in Ottawa in a pretty overwhelming fashion. Today is the first ever National Day of Reconciliation, and there were a number of activities around Guelph to mark the day. After 36 days of campaigning and promises, Canadians, as a nation, seemed to have one singular thought: The government is working exactly the way we want. On Monday, Canadians went to the polls and voted for a government that looked very much like the government that was dissolved on August 16, and Guelph and area kept up with that trend returning many incumbents back to their seats in Ottawa.
