Guelphites Remind MP’s Office That They’re Looking for Some Climate Action

More Federal Money for Second Chance to Find Jobs for Women

The economic issues stemming from COVID-19 are as well known as the health implications at this point: The massive disruption to service-based businesses, the lack of summer work in those businesses for young people, and the disproportionate effect on women in the workforce. Trudeau Announces New Cabinet; Some New Faces, Mostly Old Faces

In a lavish Rideau Hall ceremony on Tuesday, more than one month after the completion of the election, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau finally unveiled the cabinet that will (hopefully) lead Canada to the end of the pandemic and a brighter future beyond. The 38-person cabinet maintains Trudeau’s commitment to gender parity in cabinet, and aims to shake up some important portfolios with some newer faces. Longfield Tells Open Sources That He Knows What the Electorate Wants this Term

Just a few weeks ago, Guelph Member of Parliament Lloyd Longfield was re-elected to his position in Ottawa in a pretty overwhelming fashion. It wasn’t an easy road, there were a lot of angry questions about the Federal Liberals action (or lack there of) on climate change, the COVID-19 response, and Truth and Reconciliation. Local Leaders Share Thoughts on National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

Today is the first ever National Day of Reconciliation, and there were a number of activities around Guelph to mark the day. Many local politicians have also marked the day by making special statements,  wearing orange shirts, and speaking to the need to address long-standing Indigenous issues that come from centuries of systemic racism and genocide. Guelph Joins Nation-wide Trend of Voting for the Status Quo

After 36 days of campaigning and promises, Canadians, as a nation, seemed to have one singular thought: The government is working exactly the way we want. On Monday, Canadians went to the polls and voted for a government that looked very much like the government that was dissolved on August 16, and Guelph and area kept up with that trend returning many incumbents back to their seats in Ottawa. This is the third election for Liberal candidate Lloyd Longfield, and he’s hoping for a third victory. If Longfield is successful on September 20, and he ends up serving another four-year term, that means a Liberal Party candidate will have served as Guelph’s Member of Parliament for over three decades.
