Staff Says New Transit Initiatives Are a Success

Last year during the 2022-23 budget process, council approved two new projects to increase transit use. One of the new programs was a multi-tiered affordable bus pass, and the other was a pilot that let kids 12 and under ride transit for free. In two progress reports to council released Friday, City of Guelph staff are enthusiastic about the results of the program and are considering them to so far be a success. Guelph Gets More Safe Restart Funding for Transit

Christmas came early for Ontario municipalities who are still struggling with reduced revenue for their transit systems. At an announcement in Brampton today, Premier Doug Ford and Transportation Minister Caroline Mulroney announced phase 4 of Safe Restart Funding specifically geared to public transportation systems in 107 Ontario municipalities for this fiscal year. Transit Fare Strategy Feedback is Now Open Till April 10

Well, this will be a good time to share any thoughts you have about Guelph Transit’s fare system because the long-expected Fare Strategy has now come to the people for feedback. Council set up and knocked down plans for economic development over the next four years, plans to manage growth for the next 30 years, and plans for moving people around town for that same time horizon.
