City Council Preview – What’s on the Agenda for the January 10 Meeting?

This is the first council meeting of the year, and it’s another orientation session of a sort as members of the horseshoe sit down and look at the City of Guelph’s Strategic Plan. What is it? Committee of the Whole Preview – What’s on the Agenda for the January 10 Meeting?

We haven’t had a Committee of the Whole meeting since July 2022, and while the council year will not technically begin with CoW as the first meeting of 2023 (see the separate preview for the workshop meeting scheduled for the morning of January 10), there are still be a couple of key decisions that need approval. It’s the perfect way to ease the horseshoe into what likely will be a very busy and productive year. This Week at Council: Funding the Mission and Service Improvements

It feels like we were only just getting started, but Guelph city council wrapped up for the year after taking care of a couple of key pieces of business. Just in time for Christmas, there was some good news for people who want to see more aid for those who are unhoused downtown, and there was also some good news for people who like to complain to City staff with an exciting and interactive new way to make you voice heard! Staff Says New Transit Initiatives Are a Success

Last year during the 2022-23 budget process, council approved two new projects to increase transit use. One of the new programs was a multi-tiered affordable bus pass, and the other was a pilot that let kids 12 and under ride transit for free. In two progress reports to council released Friday, City of Guelph staff are enthusiastic about the results of the program and are considering them to so far be a success.
