Guelph Wants a Piece of the Mailbox Fight?

Tales of open revolt in Hamilton over Canada Post’s plans to end door-to-door mail delivery seem to have inspired one Guelph city councillor to speak up on the issue of installation of community mailboxes. While Guelph is not amongst the communities already announced to be losing some portion of home delivery in exchange for community mailboxes, Leanne Piper is saying that if the day comes, then the city should be consulted about their placement.

A Quick Note About Election Coverage

So here we are, another Federal campaign. So here we are, and I’m sure you’re wondering what I have cooking… Continue reading “A Quick Note About Election Coverage”

A curious press release showed up this morning, an invitation to a press event where in Gord Miller, former Environmental Commissioner of Ontario, will be announcing “his plan to run in the upcoming federal election in the riding of Guelph.” Specifically? Well, if he’s going to be a major party candidate, he has one of two choices, and considering his career path, it should be fairly obvious what colour banner he’ll be waving come the fall. They may not have been first, but many eyes were on the Liberal Party’s Guelph membership to see who they would be nominating to succeed Frank Valeriote as their nominee in Guelph. Three people submitted their names for the chance to run for the Liberals in this fall’s federal election. Mail I Don’t Miss Getting

Making the rounds on social media today was the above photograph of a flyer sent out by Elmwood-Transcona MP Lawrence Toet to people in his riding that asked in Canada’s battle against ISIS and other Islamic militants, do you agree with Toet that action must be taken, or do you disagree and think that the terrorists are victims? This, my friends, is a loaded question, but if it seems at all familiar to you, that’s because it we in Guelph used to get many of the very same kind of flyers in the mail.
