It was a short meeting of the Heritage Advisory Committee this month at the City of Guelph, but you can’t say it wasn’t a consequential one. The committee heard about one designation, approved two other matters on the consent agenda, and then heard about the plan for the rest of the year, which, sadly, isn’t going to involve taking their foot off the gas pedal when it comes to approving as many designations as possible. It was remarked at the meeting that it’s unusual that the Wellington Dufferin Guelph Board of Health to get together before Labour Day in September. But there was a lot of staff labour on display at this month’s meeting, and more than a little good news in terms of progress on beating back the opioid crisis, and the success of Public Health’s vaccination programs.
