RECAP: The Library Trims Their 2025 Budget With One Move

After a summer break that actually included one closed door meeting to launch the search for the new CEO, the Guelph Public Library Board of Directors got back to business with some business. The library became one of the first of the shared services to approve their 2025 budget, and they did it while shaving six per cent from the original 2025 forecast that was approved last year. Friends, Family of Nathaniel Schofield Still Demanding Answers

It’s been over 80 days since Nathaniel Schofield, a 36-year-old Arthur man, died while in police custody at the Rockwood detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police, and his friends and family still have no idea why, how, or what happened. On Sunday, over 30 community members gathered outside The Boathouse and then marched around Carden Street and down to the Ontario court house to let everyone know, they’re still waiting for answers. This Week at Council: Last Minute Motion Drama

It was supposed to be a nice, smooth meeting. The only thing on the agenda were reports from Committee of the Whole meetings that needed to be ratified, and aside from the two or three delegations, this meeting should have been over and done quickly. Ghost Ride Honours Collision Victim with 200 Cyclists

Saturday was supposed to be celebratory for the Guelph Coalition for Active Transportation. That evening, they were planning on holding their annual “Bike the Night” extravaganza, but the real world entered the chat when dedicated Guelph cyclist and cycling supporter Susan Bard was killed in a collision on Victoria Road on September 6. Guelph Police Reveal New Vehicle for Risky Situations

If you see this new police vehicle driving around in your neighbourhood you will know something’s about to go down. A Tunnel?! Ford Has Ideas About Gridlock

Politicians, and those critical of politicians, often talk about thinking “outside the box”. Well, let it never be said that Premier Doug Ford doesn’t know how to think because Wednesday, from the side of the road in Toronto, he announced a bold new plan to fight congestion on Highway #401: A tunnel *under* the 401.
