“Short” was the word that best summed up this week’s meeting of city council, the regular meeting for the month of May. There was nothing much on the agenda aside from matters already settled at Committee of the Whole, so the only thing left to debate was a motion to ask the provincial government to stay the erasure of the heritage list at the end of the year. The big news though, that came out of the closed meeting. Here’s the recap! Continue reading “This Week at Council: Stephanie Drive Deal and Heritage Reprise Request”

RECAP: City and County Split on New Anti-Poverty Initiatives at JSSLAC

Where were those divides? Get into the recap and find out! Continue reading “RECAP: City and County Split on New Anti-Poverty Initiatives at JSSLAC”

RECAP: Childcare and Protecting Paramedics on the Agenda at JSSLAC
This month’s meeting of the Joint Social Services and Land Ambulance Committee was a bit laid back. There was an update about the budget, but the meat of the meeting – so to speak – were two matters, one is a request for more protections in the Criminal Code to protect first responder, and second it was an update about making sure there’s a childcare space for everyone who needs it. Let’s did into the play-by-play with the recap! Continue reading “RECAP: Childcare and Protecting Paramedics on the Agenda at JSSLAC”
