On Wednesday night, the Federal Electoral Boundaries Commission for Ontario opened their Zoom lines for people in Guelph, Wellington County, Halton Region and Mississauga to talk about the proposed changes to the electoral map. Since 2004, Guelph has been a riding on its own, but as we all know Guelph is a rapidly growing city, and a single MP can only represent so many people. There’s been a lot of discussion in the last few weeks about getting more housing developed across Ontario to deal with the rapid increase of housing prices. The fight to get more housing has also created a reciprocal concern about creating more sprawl, which is something that the environmentally-minded population doesn’t want to see.
