KidsAbility Cuts Jobs Again in Wake of Autism Funding Changes
Changes to the province’s autism funding has claimed more jobs in our area, at least that’s according to the CEO of KidsAbility. Linda Kenny told staff this morning that come January 2020, between 20 and 25 staff members will be laid off in a new round of job losses following nine layoffs earlier this year. Legal Aid Cuts Hit Important Program at Women in Crisis
Provincial cuts seem to be affecting the Guelph community again, this time in the form of a vital legal aid program for victims of domestic violence. Guelph-Wellington Women in Crisis and the Legal Clinic for Guelph and Wellington County posted the news on Friday that a weekly family law clinic has been cancelled effective immediately. Ontario Decision Strike Two for Carbon Tax Court Challenges
For opponents still hoping to use the courts to undermine the Federal carbon tax, it was more bad news as the Ontario Court of Appeal joined its Saskatchewan colleagues in recognizing the constitutionality of the Greenhouse Gas Pollution Pricing Act (GGPPA). Moody’s Flags Risk and Threatens Rate Cut Because of Ontario Budget Effects
It seems that the Ontario Budget announced in April is the gift that keeps on giving, even though you wish you could return it. One of the world’s leading credit agencies is warning that the cuts to funding and other proposed actions in the budget could result in a rate cut to Ontario’s municipalities, as cities across the province are forced to deal with $2 billion loss in revenue over the next 10 years.
