Ontario Government Announces No More Capacity Limits on November 15

After a couple of weeks of pressure from restaurateurs and other business owners about the Government of Ontario’s seemingly random removal of capacity limits on cinemas and sports venues, it looks like all limits are coming to an end by the mid-point of next month. In a typical late Friday announcement, Premier Doug Ford said that more limits will be lifted on Monday with an eye to end all COVID-19 precautions by the end of March. “Enough is Enough.” Police Board Moves to Recoup Party Costs from U of G

In the first meeting of Guelph Police Services Board since Homecoming, the Board decided that it would be the last Homecoming without the City of Guelph getting any compensation for the added security costs. 9 Out of 10 Guelphites Now Vaccinated, as City Struggles With Unvaccinated Staff

On Wednesday, the residents of Guelph reached an important vaccine milestone: 9 out of every 10 eligible people in the city have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19. By comparison, only 83 per cent of people born in 2009 and before in the whole of Ontario are fully vaccinated, which casts Guelph as pretty enthusiastically vaccinated locality in Canada. Government of Ontario Expanding Flu Shot Availability in November

In case you had forgotten, flu season is here. Let’s just say that if you’re only planning on getting one shot this fall, and you aren’t already fully vaccinated against COVID-19, make it a Pfizer or Moderna shot. However, if you are worried about catching the good, old fashioned flu, then you should probably get a flu shot, which is a chore that’s going to get easier in the next couple of weeks. Ontario QR Codes for Vaccine Proof Now Available

Like the soft launch of any one of a hundred different apps, the digital vaccine verification code started appearing on Google Play and the App Store on Friday morning. Yes Virginia, you can now carry your vaccine certification on your phone with a Government of Ontario-approved QR code, and just a few days ahead of the one-month anniversary of the Province’s vaccine certification program. The Flu is Back! Says WDG Public Health

It’s not the press release you might expect from the local Public Health unit, after all, why would you need a press release that announces the arrival of flu season? In COVID times though, the return of influenza is a moment because there was almost no flu last year. Heritage Guelph Hears About How 797 Victoria Notice was “Absolutely a Miss” on Staff’s Part

The latest venue for the controversy over the emergency demolition of 797 Victoria Road North is the one that it skipped to begin with. At the Heritage Guelph meeting on Tuesday, members of the committee got to ask staff questions about what the heck happened, and how everyone can avoid letting it happen again. Basically, there was no intended slight, but the risk to life made staff “miss” all other considerations. Guelph Public Library Reveals New Look for New Main Building

The archeological preparation happening now is part of the ground work to redevelop Baker Street for a new residential project and the new main building for the Guelph Public Library.
