City Council Preview – What’s on the Agenda for the February 27 Meeting?

Although we’ve technically not quite gotten to the end of the month, we’ve at least gotten to the agenda for the end of the month. At the regular council meeting on the last Tuesday in February, we will cover again all the business from Committee of the Whole and then get into new business, which involves an annual visit from someone special and some big changes to an importance shared services committee. This Week at Council: Downtown Renewal, Recycling Revamp

After a pretty light January, the first week of February brought a couple of packed agendas to the council’s agenda management software on their iPads. First, Committee of the Whole contained an unexpected report about the Housing Accelerator Funds, plus some grand plans about downtown. Also, there was a field trip to the east end of town for a special council workshop about the proverbial Cadillac of City services: waste management. RECAP: Heritage Guelph Looks at Changes, and a Potential Non-Designation

It was a jam-packed Heritage Guelph agenda that took the committee right to the finish line in terms of timing. There was a visit from the clerks’ office to talk about changes coming to the advisory committees later this year, and to get Heritage Guelph’s feedback, and then everyone got hung up on a matter of not designating a property and how tricky it can be with certain kinds of buildings.
