The open space around the Old Guelph Reformatory, affectionately (and unofficially) known as the Old Refomatory lands, are an attractive area in the city that a lot of people would like to see protected. Public Health Canada Confirms Monkeypox in Canada
Monkeypox has officially landed. It had been suspected in the Montreal area along with other locations in the U.S. and Europe, but late Thursday night, the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) confirmed that there are definitely two cases of the virus in the region. Although this virus is only fatal in a very small portion of cases, the idea that this could be another public health crisis on the coat tails of a global pandemic has people concerned. COVID Knocks Schreiner Out of In-Person Campaigning
There’s still a pandemic going on. It might not seem like it, but there are people still catching COVID-19 and still having to self-isolate until they post a negative test result. Not a great position to find yourself in during a busy election campaign, but it’s the position that Green Party of Ontario leader and Guelph candidate Mike Schreiner finds himself in. Board of Health Has Positive Outlook on Current Pandemic Conditions
The Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Board of Health met on Wednesday in a hybrid format. For the first time in over two years most board members and staff got together in the same room at Public Health’s Chancellors Way headquarters while others tuned in via Zoom, so one might be forgiven for assuming that the pandemic is almost over. School Board Trustee Wants to Get Kids in Need a Free Bike
Good biking weather is finally here, but what if you don’t own a bike? What if your family doesn’t have the money to afford a new bike? This is the conundrum for young people across Guelph who like to have a bike, but find that getting one is a luxury. Well, one school board trustee thinks a kids’ bike is not a luxury, and he’s started a new program to refurbish previously enjoyed bikes for new adventures with new cyclists.
