This month transit is coming around again for March’s meeting of the Transit Advisory Committee. And what advice will be sought from the committee this month? There will be the usual items about electrification, general transit news, and insights from the board and other users, plus there will be an item about chimes and messages that is still mysterious, but at least it’s something different. Let’s check out the agenda… Continue reading “MEETING PREVIEW: Transit Advisory Committee Meeting for March 21, 2024”

MEETING PREVIEW: County Social Services Meeting for March 13, 2024
After taking February off, the Social Services Committee of Wellington County is getting together again… for the last time. Sort of. Next month, a new joint committee between the City of Guelph and the County of Wellington takes over, but for this month *this* committee will tackle reports about construction projects, resolutions from the Guelph council, and the findings from a symposium held just a few weeks ago (and will be held again in a few weeks time). MEETING PREVIEW: Board of Health Meeting for March 6, 2024
Get crunk with this month’s meeting of the Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Board of Health meeting! …Not really. Seriously though, the community’s thoughts about using cannabis and the effects of using cannabis are on the agenda as a report based on survey conducted by Public Health is presented. In other news, the board will talk about the roll out of seasonal vaccines, and other communicable diseases that are going around. MEETING PREVIEW: Heritage Guelph Meeting for March 4, 2024
What’s old is new again at Heritage Guelph, and for the March meeting there are some familiar looking addresses coming back for new a change or a new designation. There are couple of projects on the agenda that need the committee’s blessing to proceed, a proposed designation will finally have its day, and there’s another one in the queue. All that. and there’s a matter of legality to attend to as well. Continue reading “MEETING PREVIEW: Heritage Guelph Meeting for March 4, 2024”
MEETING PREVIEW: Guelph Public Library Board for February 26, 2024
As usual, we get to the end of the month and the regularly scheduled meeting of the Guelph Public Library Board of Directors. This month is a kind of special occasion, a sad occasion, because this is the last meeting for CEO Steve Kraft after a 41-year illustrious career in the library business in Guelph. Still, much of the meeting will be looking to the future, both the short and the long-term. Continue reading “MEETING PREVIEW: Guelph Public Library Board for February 26, 2024”
MEETING PREVIEW: Grand River Conservation Membership Meeting for February 23, 2024
If it’s February at the Grand River Conservation Authority then that means it’s time for the Annual General Meeting for the membership board, and if it’s the AGM, then that means it’s time for the final passage of the budget. Not much has changed with the budget in the last 30 days, just about half-a-million dollars or so, but there’s a lot of meeting to get through before the last word on the budget and that includes a lot of audit stuff. Continue reading “MEETING PREVIEW: Grand River Conservation Membership Meeting for February 23, 2024”
MEETING PREVIEW: Accessibility Advisory Committee for February 20, 2024
It’s been a while since we’ve sat down and spent time with the Accessibility Advisory Committee; they last got together right before Christmas. So for the first meeting in 2024, there’s going to be a lot of stuff on the agenda including chair and vice-chair election, plus feedback about elections, playgrounds, and waste collection. On top of that, the committee will face a familiar exercise we’ve already seen a couple of times this month! Continue reading “MEETING PREVIEW: Accessibility Advisory Committee for February 20, 2024”
MEETING PREVIEW: Guelph Police Services Board for February 15, 2024
February’s meeting of the Guelph Police Services Board doesn’t have a lot on the agenda, but there is one very important issue that will be discussed and it’s a follow-up from a city council directive last fall. Council declared Intimate Partner Violence an epidemic, and members of the Service will tell us what they’re doing about it. On top of that, there’s some of the usual report items to check out, so let’s check them out! Continue reading “MEETING PREVIEW: Guelph Police Services Board for February 15, 2024”
MEETING PREVIEW: Transit Advisory Committee Meeting for February 15, 2024
No time for love the day after Valentine’s Day because the Transit Advisory Committee has to get down to business. The agenda is deceptively light, because one of the items will require TAC to take a good, long look at itself. The clerks’ office is coming to this meeting to look at how TAC might fit into the grand scheme of things so far as the future of advisory committees go, and there’s also matters of rider feedback and general updates to discuss. Continue reading “MEETING PREVIEW: Transit Advisory Committee Meeting for February 15, 2024”
