RECAP: Committee of Adjustment Approves Garage Conversion Over Staff Objection

This month’s Committee of Adjustment saw a number of variances handed out in the name of creating more units in the city, but only one caused any real dilemma. When one man wanted to turn the garage on his rental property into an additional accessory unit, City staff and his neighbour both said no, and then it was up to the committee to unravel the moral conundrum: Could they find a way to get to yes to get one more until in stock? RECAP: Board of Health Looks to the Future, Including Catch-Up Jabs for Kids

This month’s meeting of the Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Board of Health seemed to be mostly about looking ahead. While there are still issues around COVID-19, there was a lot of discussion around other public health matters like young people and making sure they’ve gotten all their other vaccination shots, plus also some initial conversation about planning for the future of public health beyond COVID. RECAP: GRCA Board Hears About December Storm, and Gets New (Old) Executive

Despite the challenges that the Grand River Conservation Authority is facing, January’s board meeting was brief and straightforward as they handled some of the usual beginning-of-the-term business. RECAP: Heritage Guelph Likes the OR Land Boundaries; Also Bill 23 Update

Heritage Guelph kicked off the new year with an update about a couple of key areas of concern: The Heritage Conservation District study of the Ontario Reformatory Lands, and an update about the post-Bill 23 workload for heritage staff. RECAP: Cobey Promises Lots of Data in Months to Come at Police Board Meeting

It was another short meeting of the Guelph Police Services Board this month, but Police Chief Gord Cobey promised busy times ahead as the service starts completing their annual reports now that 2022 is nearly a month into the rearview mirror. RECAP: Library Board Learns About Card Changes and Fundraising Plans

Tuesday night marked the first meeting of the Guelph Public Library Board of Directors for this term, and it’s newly embiggened with two additional city council representatives. RECAP: Accessibility Committee Completes December Agenda, Talks Playgrounds and Elections

RECAP: Social Services Gets A Look at the Future of 65 Delhi Street

RECAP: Board of Health Hears About Increased Community Need for Healthy Food

The Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Board of Health began 2023 with some shocking if unsurprising insights into the current state of food insecurity in the region.
