Despite the enormous efforts being made to vaccinate everyone in the region, it’s not always easy for people to drop everything and show up at an appointed time and place to get a shot. Considering that many of these people are the ones who are most in need of a vaccine shot – people with health and mobility issues, and essential workers – it’s even more important they get one. WDG Public Health Warns About High Risk Variant as the Region Re-Enters Orange

New daily case counts are falling, we’re closing in on a potential re-opening date, and more vaccines are being given out every day. What this silver lining needed was a cloud, and we got one. On Monday, Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health sent out a warning to the community that anyone who recently returned from Nunavut needs to self-isolate now to prevent the spread of a very contagious form of COVID-19. Booking Vaccines Has Tested Everyone’s Tech Know-How, Even Public Health’s

In the last week, more and more cohorts have been opened to vaccine eligibility, and the it’s been accompanied by the usual excitement of people receiving their life-saving shot. City, Police and Public Health Clarify Position on Emergency Orders

It’s been a confusing weekend following Friday’s announcement of new, more stringent COVID-19 restrictions by the Provincial government. Perhaps sensing that uncertainty, the City of Guelph, Guelph Police Service, and Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health issued a joint statement on Sunday morning that clarified the new police powers, and when they will be used. Public Health Opens Pre-Registration to all Adults as Local Cases Hit Record High

A bit of good news in a field of bad was announced on Monday by Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health: By this time on Tuesday, at least one-quarter of the residents in the region will have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. Public Health has also announced that pre-registration for a vaccine shot is now open to all people in the region over the age of 16, but it comes on the worst day for new cases since the start of the pandemic. RECAP: Board of Health Hears Update as Pandemic Rapidly Changes Again

This month’s Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Board of Health meeting took place in the immediate shadow of a new stay-at-home and State of Emergency order from the Government of Ontario.
