The June meeting of the Accessibility Advisory Committee was mostly about getting around. The AAC was asked for their opinion about parking in the downtown, the future of complete streets, the needs of mobility transit, the quality of bus shelters and accessible alternatives to Uber and other ride shares. MEETING PREVIEW: Accessibility Advisory Committee for April 18, 2023

After taking a scheduled month off, the Accessibility Advisory Committee gets back to business with their regular meeting, and the agenda will cover matters coming in the immediate future and the sort of far future. Feedback will be sought about a permanent patio policy, accessibility of playground equipment, traffic calming, community engagement and the 2026 municipal election. RECAP: Guelph Sports Groups Agree That They Need More Space (Plus Video)

On Thursday night, Councillor Dan Gibson hosted a town hall at City Hall that gathered representatives from many different sports groups around the city to look at the challenges facing local sports and to begin the process of organizing. Despite the forward momentum on the South End Community Centre, it was the main point of the town hall that we’re still lacking space for just about every sport you can think of. Eastview Park the First Choice for New Fenced-In Dog Park

Remember before COVID when the biggest issue in front of council was the removal or the retaining of two leash-free, fenced-in dog parks in the city? At the time, council asked staff to look at other sites that might serve as future dog parks outside of residential areas, and they have delivered a report that should come as no surprise to anyone. After a very active debate at City Council last month, the new leash-free rules are now in effect at Guelph parks.
