The last Heritage Guelph meeting of the year did something ironic… It looked to the future. It’s been a very busy 12 months for the local heritage committee, a lot of long simmering designations were scratched off the list, but there’s still a lot of work to do before this time next year when all the properties listed, but not designated, are deleted from the registry due to Bill 23. And that’s where the work of this meeting of Heritage Guelph begins… Continue reading “RECAP: Heritage Guelph Looks Ahead to 2024!”

RECAP: Education Programs’ Fate Stymies GRCA Board Again
November’s Grand River Conservation Authority board meeting took a break from the immediate concern around next year’s budget. Sort of. The debate continued about the fate of select nature centres and the outdoor education program, and that’s a decision that was reserved another day to get more information. For everything else on the agenda, you can check out the recap… Continue reading “RECAP: Education Programs’ Fate Stymies GRCA Board Again”
RECAP: Transit Committee Learns About Budget Impact and 2024
The last Transit Advisory Committee meeting of the year had a lot of ground to cover, especially with the 2024-2027 multiyear budget in progress. RECAP: Police Board Gets Update About Campus Policing

To see those details let’s do the recap… Continue reading “RECAP: Police Board Gets Update About Campus Policing”

For now, let’s recap the AAC meeting… Continue reading “RECAP: The AAC Has Concerns About Election Methods As Presented”
RECAP: Heritage Guelph Cranks Out Several Designation, and Are Looking for More

RECAP: Couple of Tough Applications for Committee of Adjustments Consideration
It was a packed agenda for Committee of Adjustment this month, but it wasn’t necessarily a complicated agenda. Only a couple of files offered anything even a little controversial including a very well-known property that was once a hotel and is now a student residence where the owner wants to make even more room for students. Along with that, there’s a couple of severances, a couple of accessory buildings, and a house at the end of a dead end street. Here’s the recap… Continue reading “RECAP: Couple of Tough Applications for Committee of Adjustments Consideration”
RECAP: Social Services Committee Tackles Ambulance and Housing Pressures
This month’s Social Services Committee meeting at Wellington County took place against the backdrop of the budget discussion at the City of Guelph. Appropriately, two of the key topics directly affecting Guelph business includes (obviously) the 2024 social services budget, which also connects to a presentation from Paramedic Service Chief Stephen Dewar about ambulance response times. But that’s only how the meeting begins, so let’s gt into the recap… Continue reading “RECAP: Social Services Committee Tackles Ambulance and Housing Pressures”
