RECAP: Police Board Gets Low Down on Fight Against Intimate Partner Violence
This month’s Guelph Police Services Board meeting highlighted a very complicated and very serious issue facing our community. Following up on a recommendation last fall from city council, members of the Police Service provided insight into how they’re fighting the epidemic of Intimate Partner Violence. RECAP: Public Health Tackles Inspections, Meningitis and Oral Health
The first Board of Health meeting of the year featured a lot of information (as usual). Perhaps you’ve notice that Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health has revamped the Check Before You Choose website, and you’ve probably noticed because more of you are consulting that site. RECAP: Heritage Guelph Looks at Changes, and a Potential Non-Designation
It was a jam-packed Heritage Guelph agenda that took the committee right to the finish line in terms of timing. There was a visit from the clerks’ office to talk about changes coming to the advisory committees later this year, and to get Heritage Guelph’s feedback, and then everyone got hung up on a matter of not designating a property and how tricky it can be with certain kinds of buildings. RECAP: The Accessibility Committee Lands on a Direction for 2026 Voting Methods
The last meeting of 2023 went to the Accessibility Advisory Committee, who had a lot business to take care before the holiday break. The big piece is that after months of back and forth between staff and committee, we finally have a direction for alternative voting methods for the 2026 municipal election. RECAP: GRCA Board Pressed Again to Save Nature Centres
Like many boards, this month marks the last meeting of the year for the Grand River Conservation Authority membership, and there were a couple of issues addressed that are going to be an ongoing issue as we enter the new year.
