RECAP: Transit Committee Stays the Course as Job Action Looms

It was a relatively brief meeting of the Transit Advisory Committee this month, and that’s in-spite of the rather long shadow being cast by the potential for job action in the next few weeks. There was also some rather sad news about one member of the committee but otherwise it seemed like business as usual as Transit, like every other city department, heads into budget season. To get those and other details, check out the recap below…

RECAP: The AAC Tells Staff – Respectfully – That They’re the Captain Now!

This month’s Accessibility Advisory Committee was delayed by two days, and if you think that wasn’t a topic of conversation, you are wrong! Still stinging from the lack of engagement before the passage of the Public Space Use Bylaw almost two months ago, the AAC had some notes about their relationship with staff, and they also had notes about the bylaw. For that, and all the rest of the agenda, check out the recap below… Continue reading “RECAP: The AAC Tells Staff – Respectfully – That They’re the Captain Now!”

RECAP: Too Many Unanswered Questions About CTS Closure Impact at Social Services

Some questions were answered, but other questions lingered as this month’s meeting of the Joint Social Services and Land Ambulance Committee  wrapped up. It wasn’t all bad news, of course. RECAP: Heritage Guelph Still Has Issues with Wall Repairs

It was a pretty straightforward meeting of Heritage Guelph this October, and it even had an obligatory stop at the cemetery. The most controversial item on the agenda, even mildly, was planned repairs to the retaining wall along the river at The Boathouse, which is one of those instances where legal requirements trump heritage ones. But that’s not the last word on this meeting, so to see what you missed, check out this recap! Continue reading “RECAP: Heritage Guelph Still Has Issues with Wall Repairs”

Last week, Guelph Transit broke the record for the most rides in one week, over 200,000. So if the buses felt more fuller than usual, even by September standards, you were probably right. That’s good transit news, and so is the first three weeks of expanded on-demand Sunday service, which is growing every week apparently. For the rest of the good and mixed news about transit business, consult this recap of September’s Transit Advisory Committee! RECAP: Social Services Hears Winter Plans and Want More OW Support

The Joint Social Services and Land Ambulance got back to business after taking the summer off, so that meant there was a lot of business to get back to. RECAP: GRCA Board Approves Changes to Land Acquisition and Disposition Policies

Proving that summer vacation is winding down, the Grand River Conservation Authority membership board met for their August meeting Friday, and despite the month off they weren’t able to escape some of the controversies that chased them at the June meeting, especially around the topic of land acquisition and disposition. Also, there was some friction about delegation rules and some insight into flood control, which is all here in the recap… Continue reading “RECAP: GRCA Board Approves Changes to Land Acquisition and Disposition Policies”
