It’s that time again for the Accessibility Advisory Committee, on schedule, almost exactly two months since the last one. For this October meeting, the AAC will talk about that special workshop that didn’t happen, new road designs, new playground designs, the accessible future of Guelph’s patios, and a special note about how the federal government undid a whole lot of good work on plastics. Apparently, city council is taking Halloween off. The final meeting of October is a week early, but that fact probably hasn’t had too big of an impact on the list of items for this regular meeting of council because most of it is about what’s already been approved at Committee of the Whole earlier this month. At least one of those reports will be revisited, plus one of our local sports teams will stop by so that their championship can be celebrated. Things went pretty smoothly at this month’s Committee of Adjustment meeting, and they usually do when staff recommends that almost half of the agenda be deferred. But there was some disagreement on that, and there were also some other disagreements about the direction offered by staff on some selection applications. It’s not quite budget time yet, but there was a big budget ask at this month’s Social Services meeting at Wellington County. Staff members from the Sanguen Health Centre’s Community Health Van were special guests, and they are looking for support to keep that service going past March of next year.
