There were already thoughts about the June meeting of the Joint Social Services and Land Ambulance Committee in May when a housing matter came to Guelph City Council for discussion. Now in the realm of the County of Wellington, Temporary Structured Encampments will get further discussion, but will it get any further direction? This Week at Council: Internet Voting Remains an Option

It was an action-packed week at council, but it was also one of the most contentious weeks seen in the chambers in the last few months. The friction was all about exploring online voting methods for the 2026 municipal election, and whether or not council would proceed with the option reached at Committee of the Whole. This planning meeting of Guelph City Council will focus for the most part on heritage matters. For the last several months, Heritage Guelph has been banking new designations for council to finally sign off on and the horseshoe will take a look at five of them. But that’s not the end of the agenda, there will also be a request to extend a deadline, a request to send a letter, and a request to build some new student accommodations.
