City Council Preview – What’s on the Agenda for the May 30 Meeting?
After a week off due to the Victoria Day long weekend, council gets back to business by recapped the business from the Committee of the Whole, but there’s also some new items on the agenda too. To wrap up May, we’re going to look at some funding for affordable housing, new public committee appointments, and some extra training money for one of the city councillors that wants to go over budget. Quiet First Day of Nominations in Guelph
Monday marked the first day that you could file the paper work to run for office in this fall’s Municipal Election, and when it was all said and done it was a pretty quiet one. While one person signed up to take on the incumbents, another long-time councillor announced that he is making this term around the horseshoe his last. Before Nominations Open, Let’s Look at the Political State of Guelph
While everyone is eagerly awaiting the start of the Provincial Election, it’s important to remember that there actually two elections happening in 2022. Later this year, Guelph voters will choose a new mayor, a new city council, and new trustees for the local school boards, but before nominations open a week from Monday we’re going to look at the political odds going into the coming campaign.
