MEETING PREVIEW: Transit Advisory Committee Meeting for May 18, 2023

This month’s Transit Advisory Meeting will catch up on some recent transit developments outside the committee room and then talk about what’s next. Since last month’s TAC meeting, city council formally passed the transit fare review so what happens now? In other matters, transit staff will talk about future plans, rider concerns, schedule changes, and, naturally, what’s going on with the electric bus. MEETING PREVIEW: County Social Services Meeting for May 10, 2023

This month, the Wellington County Social Services Committee meeting will be mostly about the future of childcare and after school programs, from the County staff’s own internal plans to the outside funding changes from the Province. New funding models and new plans for the future are about half the meeting, the other half will focus on Housing 101 in Wellington County, plus maybe (?) an Ontario Works update. MEETING PREVIEW: Board of Health Meeting for May 3, 2023

This month’s Board of Health meeting focuses on matters of everyday health. For instance, there was an incident in the Dufferin part of Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health where people got sick from food at a public event. There will be a report about that, plus a report about Public Health’s communications strategy last year and something called “Adverse Childhood Experiences”. Continue reading “MEETING PREVIEW: Board of Health Meeting for May 3, 2023”

MEETING PREVIEW: Committee of Adjustment Meeting for May 11, 2023

This month’s Committee of Adjustment meeting will hopefully not be the marathon that April’s was; there are significantly fewer than a dozen different applications to dispatch. The committee will hear a couple of applications that will look at some building expansions, and then they will hear from staff about the approved changes to the Comprehensive Zoning Bylaw and the Provincially approved changes to the Official Plan. MEETING PREVIEW: Grand River Conservation Membership Meeting for April 28, 2023

Spring is here, so maybe that’s why the April meeting for the member of the Grand River Conservation Authority is going to be relatively light. What’s coming up this month? Insurance renewal, new hires, new terms for naming stuff, and the usual reports about the financials and the watershed conditions (there was a lot of rain and snow melting since the last meeting). Let’s look at the agenda this month from the GRCA. Continue reading “MEETING PREVIEW: Grand River Conservation Membership Meeting for April 28, 2023”

MEETING PREVIEW: Guelph Public Library Board for April 24, 2023

Every month the Guelph Public Library Board of Directors meets to talk about the latest issues facing all the various branches and programs in the library system. Continue reading “MEETING PREVIEW: Guelph Public Library Board for April 24, 2023”

MEETING PREVIEW: Guelph Police Services Board for April 20, 2023

Is it oddly ironic that the Guelph Police Services Board is meeting on 4/20? It’s a quirk of the calendar, but there’s no smoke in this agenda as the Police Board will tackle some fairly ordinary items like financial and human resources matters. There will also be a presentation about police assaults, the quarterly professional standards report and Chief Gord Cobey’s monthly report. Continue reading “MEETING PREVIEW: Guelph Police Services Board for April 20, 2023”

MEETING PREVIEW: Transit Advisory Committee Meeting for April 20, 2023

It’s been a busy April for Transit stuff even before we get to Transit Advisory Committee meeting. Transit business has been discussed at city council, and the usual end of the school year schedule shifts are coming, but there are also some new permanent changes coming in May, and then there are some more changes being prepped for September. There’s a lot of TAC to cover, so let’s start covering it.  Continue reading “MEETING PREVIEW: Transit Advisory Committee Meeting for April 20, 2023”

MEETING PREVIEW: Accessibility Advisory Committee for April 18, 2023

After taking a scheduled month off, the Accessibility Advisory Committee gets back to business with their regular meeting, and the agenda will cover matters coming in the immediate future and the sort of far future. Feedback will be sought about a permanent patio policy, accessibility of playground equipment, traffic calming, community engagement and the 2026 municipal election. Once again, there’s a lot to cram in to the two hour running time.  Continue reading “MEETING PREVIEW: Accessibility Advisory Committee for April 18, 2023”

MEETING PREVIEW: County Social Services Meeting for April 12, 2023

April’s meeting of the Wellington County Social Services Committee has three items on the agenda covering daycare, housing, and social spending. Not the biggest agenda, but one with a lot of information if you’re interested in how child care in Guelph and Wellington works, plus the number of units and types of housing currently in the region’s social housing stock. Let’s learn more… Continue reading “MEETING PREVIEW: County Social Services Meeting for April 12, 2023”
