It’s been a busy April for Transit stuff even before we get to Transit Advisory Committee meeting. Transit business has been discussed at city council, and the usual end of the school year schedule shifts are coming, but there are also some new permanent changes coming in May, and then there are some more changes being prepped for September. After taking a scheduled month off, the Accessibility Advisory Committee gets back to business with their regular meeting, and the agenda will cover matters coming in the immediate future and the sort of far future. Feedback will be sought about a permanent patio policy, accessibility of playground equipment, traffic calming, community engagement and the 2026 municipal election. Or, to be more precise, it’s bringing you an update on fighting the opioid epidemic as well as an update on fighting sexually transmitted infections, which are both very serious issues despite the above joke. This is the first month of the newly reschedule Guelph Public Library Board meeting now on the fourth Monday instead the third Tuesday due to the change in the council schedule. This month’s meeting of the Grand River Conservation Authority membership will cover a wide variety of issues including the usual topics like current watershed conditions, and current financial conditions. In terms of recent events, the membership will look at remediating some contaminated land in Cambridge, a new pilot for pheasant hunting, and the mandated changes to programs and services. This month’s Guelph Police Board meeting will have a lot of information for you, which is something that was promised back in that first meeting of the year, but unless someone on the board wants to discuss things further this may be the only way you learn more about it without actually reading the agenda. For the meeting itself though, we will hear from the Chief as usual and the board will talk about endorsing national bail reform.
